She said she's going with another friend of hers, who is also friends with the boyfriend one, so she can't go with me. She was really formal & brief about it, so I dunno. Not even sure if I should go myself; what would be the point if we won't get to talk to each other? Alan's coming into town anyway; maybe I should just not worry about it. Wonder how long that will last...

Not that I really have any place telling you what to do, but I really think that you should get back to your project and let Roxanne chill out for a while. It's your life remember, and you started this to recapture it, or at least that's what I thought. So hang out with Alan, and get back to work. I know that I want to see you work through this.. and I am pretty sure other people do too. Hang in there!

I mean, visualize the picture. You, sitting at a performance art fundraiser, thinking about the chances you've missed the whole time as you only watch her as she moves around on the stage. Then, after the performance, you walk up to her, wait until she finishes talking to someone else and say, "Hey, great job." She says, "Thanks so much for coming," then you both stand around awkwardly for a minute until someone else wants to tell her what a good job she's done.
Pathetic.

I'm with Verbald and Vixen. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that this fixation on Roxanne isn't healthy. I identify with you and my heart goes out to you because I've been there.
The project is good- I love your site and the concept. Reflecting on why you've done the things you've done, etc., but I'm thinking you need to at the same time move forward. Let this one chill and focus on the good that is in your life.
I say skip it. (And I will go on record as really liking performance art.) I agree with John that she can't seem to come to the table for this. She told you she loves you and now she can't have coffee?

Ew performance art...I generally find that term to be such the oxymoron. I wouldn't go even if she said yes...ick.
